American Legacy Foundation

We, as young adults, face certain challenges in life. Some are really tempting to give in to. A major risk in our society is trying to smoke. Many teens have easy access to tobacco products. Smoking tobacco, and putting that stuff in your health system affects you greatly.
The American legacy foundation promotes staying clean and clear from tobacco. They support the prevention of young teens getting exposed to such things. They're main goal is to create a world when anyone, especially in teens, can be offered tobacco and have the will power and smarts to refuse and say nay nay.
This Foundation focuses on all the little details. They have surveys showing how more at risk you are depending on your race. African Americans have the highest percentages of teen smokers in MIDDLE SCHOOL. The survey shows over 80% of the African Americans smoke in middle school, while 85% smoke in high school. Over 19% of Hispanic students smoke in high school. While 7% of Hispanic middle school students also smoke. While that may not be as much as African Americans it’s a lot compared to how none should be smoking.
They also offer a program that focuses on young adults. From the ages of 18-24. Mainly because once your 18 its legal in the United States to purchase cigarettes on your own. With such a temp and risk this program offers 18 months to become aware. Of all the risks, dangers, and health impacts. This program teaches the young adults to become leaders, aware, and have their own voice.
The American legacy foundations' website offers a variety of resources. From fact sheets to confessions. These fact sheets have statistics, drug facts, and lists of the health impacts. This could be very helpful if you’re interested in learning about learning about what smoking can do to you. The website also offers ways you could get involved. Joining their programs, signing pledges, these people really want to make a difference. They have with me.
